The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released an unchanged 2025/2026 academic calendar for Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS), with specific provisions for online and off-campus learning in transitional schools.
In a statement, the GES informed heads, teachers, students, parents, and stakeholders that the academic year will incorporate online schooling options for students in transition schools to facilitate continuous education.
Transitional schools (Forms 1–3) will operate a blended model that includes online/off-campus learning phases.
The Service detailed the online schooling arrangements as follows:
– Form 1: Students will have an online/off-campus period from 5–30 January 2026, return to school from 31 January to 15 March 2026, then another online/off-campus phase from March 16 to May 17, 2026, followed by a vacation from May 18 to June 12, and resume schooling from June 13 to July 2, ending the academic year on July 3– September 4, 2026.
– Form 2: Online/off-campus learning is scheduled from March 16 to April 17, 2026, with a vacation from April 18 to May 17, and school resumes from May 18 to September 4, 2026.
– Form 3: The academic year runs from January 5 to March 31, 2026, with an Easter break from April 1-8, and school resumes from April 9 to June 21, 2026.
The GES emphasized that the 2025/2026 academic calendar remains unchanged from the original issued at the beginning of the academic year, ensuring continuity in education despite the incorporation of online learning options for transitional schools.
