President John Dramani Mahama has expressed optimism that Ghana will exit the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Extended Credit Facility programme by mid-2026.
He noted that it will mark the country’s 17th and potentially last bailout from the international lender.
President Mahama stated that Ghana’s IMF programme has been successful, with the country on track to complete the programme without seeking an extension beyond April 2026.
He emphasized that future engagements with the IMF will focus on technical cooperation, such as Article IV consultations, rather than financial rescue packages.
He further highlighted human capital development as a key pillar of his growth agenda, stressing the importance of education, skills training, health, and innovation for sustainable economic growth.
