President John Dramani Mahama has emphasized the need for sustainable economic development that transcends political cycles.
He stressed that Ghana’s growth should not be reversed with every change of government.
During his address at the University of Ghana’s 77th Annual New Year School and Conference, he urged Ghanaians to move beyond rhetoric and short-term solutions, prioritizing long-term growth, strong institutions, and accountable governance.
President Mahama warned that the nation cannot achieve its goals if progress made under one administration is discarded by the next.
He reaffirmed his commitment to a second mandate, pledging to elevate Ghana’s economy and governance to a level that no succeeding government could reverse.
He called on the nation to demonstrate that democracy works and that citizens can have confidence in their leaders to protect their interests.
President Mahama reiterated that his government remains committed to fiscal discipline and efficient management of the economy, assuring Ghanaians that these principles will be upheld, even as the country approaches the 2028 elections.
