President John Dramani Mahama has expressed sincere gratitude to all Ghanaians, indicating that gratitude transcends religious doctrine.
Speaking at the non-denominational thanksgiving service held at the forecourt of the Presidency on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, he iterated that the thanksgiving is not a celebration of power but a moment of appreciation and reaffirmation of purpose.
“Today is not a celebration of power; it is a moment of thanksgiving for the opportunity to serve the people of Ghana, today, it’s not a declaration of triumph; it is a reaffirmation of purpose,”he stated.
He extended his gratitude to all key stakeholders for their continuous support to keep the country moving.
“To our farmers, our traders and workers, our teachers, our health professionals, our security personnel, our artisans, entrepreneurs, and our public servants,
“We are grateful to our traditional leaders and the clergy, our religious leaders, who continue to offer counsel, guidance, and moral leadership.
“We are grateful to our international partners, the diplomatic corps, for the work you do every day to promote bilateral friendship and international cooperation.
“We are grateful to Parliament and the judiciary for their constitutional roles in strengthening governance and accountability in our country and, above all, we are grateful to the people of Ghana for your trust, your constructive criticisms when necessary, your encouragement, and your enduring belief that our nation Ghana can and must do better,’ Prez. Mahama said.
He recognized that no government succeeds through human efforts alone, adding that wisdom cannot be manufactured, strength is not infinite, and guidance is not automatic.
