Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay has finally addressed the controversy surrounding Tracy Shay’s stage performance at Sista Afia’s all-white party, following public backlash on social media.
In a viral video shared on social media, Wendy Shay clarified that she had no prior knowledge of the performance and emphasized that Tracy was neither groomed nor adequately prepared for that particular show.
According to the RuffTown Records artiste, she was disturbed by the criticism directed at the young performer, with some people questioning why Tracy appeared on stage without her.
“Tracy is a kid. I saw people bashing her here and there and asking why she was performing without me,” Wendy Shay said.
She explained that Tracy could not have independently made the decision to travel from Accra to Koforidua to perform, stressing that such decisions are made by adults.
“Tracy alone can’t decide or make a decision to leave Accra to Koforidua to perform on her own. She’s still a kid; what her parents tell her is what she will do,” she added.
Wendy Shay revealed that she has since spoken to Tracy’s parents, who have admitted fault for allowing her to perform without her consent.
“I’ve spoken to the parents and they have accepted that they were wrong by taking Tracy to perform without my consent,” she stated.
Reaffirming her commitment to Tracy’s career, Wendy Shay described the young girl as highly talented and said she sees star potential in her, which is why she decided to mentor and support her in the music industry.
“Tracy is a very talented girl. I’m the only one who sees it and sees the star that she is; that is why I decided to help her in the industry so that she can also become the star she is,” she said.
She further noted that Tracy requires proper grooming, a responsibility she has willingly taken on, adding that parental alignment is key to the child’s success.
“She needs grooming; that’s why I have taken it upon myself to do that for her. And I know that when her parents align with me, Tracy will become the star that she is,” Wendy Shay noted.
The singer also appealed to the public to forgive Tracy for anything she may have said or done during the performance that did not sit well with them.
“If Tracy said anything that didn’t sit well with you all when she was performing, please forgive her,” she pleaded.
Wendy Shay concluded by expressing faith in Tracy’s future, stating that with the right guidance and support, the young talent is destined for greatness.
“God has plans for Tracy and it shall come to pass. If only the parents will align with me, Tracy will become the best version of herself,” she said.
