The Tano North Constituency Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Engr. Yaw Ansah has stated that many road accidents can be attributed to spousal abuse within marriages.
Speaking on ‘Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, he highlighted that men often endure hardships in marriage but remain silent due to societal stereotypes.
“So many men are suffering in their marriages, but they keep quiet because men don’t shed tears,” he pointed out.
He emphasized that men need to maintain sound mental health to drive safely, explaining that they already encounter significant challenges at work and should not face additional conflicts at home.
“When we go outside, we are on a war front, so if we come home to meet another war, it drains us, and we lack sound minds,” Mr. Ansah emphasized.
He urged women to resolve marital issues with their husbands before they hit the road to help prevent accidents.
He also emphasized the need for fatigue management, educating drivers not to drive when they lack sleep or have not gotten enough rest.
He further stressed the car maintenance culture, adding that “I am stressing on poor maintenance culture; you should have more knowledge on the car you are driving to avoid future implications, and you must have pre-start checks often,” he stated.
