Social media personality Abu Trica has been remanded into police custody for three weeks by the Gbese District Court.
This follows his latest court appearance in connection with an alleged $8 million romance fraud case linked to the United States.
Abu Trica, his accused accomplice, Daniel Yusif, appeared before the court on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, as proceedings continue to determine whether they should be extradited to the United States to face trial.
The court adjourned the case to March 18, 2026, for further hearings and related legal matters.
The case originates from an indictment by U.S. authorities, accusing Abu Trica of involvement in a large-scale online romance scam estimated at over $8 million.
He was initially arrested on December 11, 2025, following the indictment.
On January 26, 2026, the Gbese District Court discharged him and his co-accused after the state withdrew the initial charges.
However, shortly after his discharge, Abu Trica was re-arrested by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), and prosecutors filed fresh charges, including money laundering and conspiracy to defraud by false pretence.
The current proceedings before the Gbese District Court focus on assessing the legal basis for his possible extradition to the United States.
Abu Trica will remain detained until his next appearance on March 18.
