Renowned Ghanaian artist Ibrahim Mahama has explained the rationale behind his relentless pursuit of justice over his alleged assault by some police officers.
He noted that his move is aimed at securing justice rather than financial compensation, to prevent any future recurrence.
Speaking to the press after honouring an invitation by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Yohuno, he explained that he was not after compensation but justice.
“When things like this happen, the question is, how do we make sure that it doesn’t repeat itself. As I said before, none of us has any problem with the Ghana Police Service. We are not looking for compensation. We are not looking for money, obviously. It is more about justice,” Mr. Mahama said.
Meanwhile, the Service indicated that the case had been referred to the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for continuation of the investigations to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.
Mr. Mahama is reported to have been assaulted in Tamale on March 21 by a group of police officers linked to the IGP’s Special Operations Team.
