CPP ‘Chairpersons Caucus’ rejects newly-launched National Working Committee

‎The Regional Chairpersons Caucus of the Convention People’s Party has revoked the appointment of the National Working Committee.

‎In a statement released by the party, it noted that the National Working Committee is not a constitutional organ and cannot replace the Central Committee, which is recognized as the highest administrative body and the directing mind of the party.

“Temporary arrangements introduced during periods of difficulty cannot permanently replace the constitutional organs, namely the National Delegates Congress, the National Executive Council, and the Central Committee,” the statement disclosed.

They described the inauguration of the National Working Committee under the chairmanship of Moses Yahaya as a total disgrace to the corporate image of the party, borne out of greed and dishonesty.

‎The inauguration, held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, was ” carried out in the interest of Chris Yao Zigah to ensure his nephew John Harold Ayayee becomes a leader at all costs, superseding the supreme interest of the party.

‎”The poor attendance at the function was testimony that it was neither well planned nor supported by the 20-member Council of Elders and the rank and file of the party,” the caucus explained.

The Caucus highlighted that the Council of Elders erred by appointing members of the committee without consulting the regional chairmen, the youth wing, the women’s wing, and the legal fraternity.

‎It further explained that the challenge before the party is not to create new leadership structures but to restore the functioning of the constitutional organs.

‎The party explained that creating additional leadership outside the constitutional framework by the Council of Elders risks creating uncertainty regarding authority and may further weaken organizational unity within the party.
