The Ministry of Education has invited the leadership of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to an urgent meeting on Monday, October 12, 2026, to resolve the ongoing strike action.
In a statement issued on Sunday, October 11, the Ministry said the meeting aims to facilitate constructive dialogue towards an amicable resolution of the impasse.
Government reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the concerns of organised labour through established negotiation mechanisms and constructive engagement.
The Ministry also urged all parties to approach the meeting in good faith and with a strong sense of responsibility, considering the impact of the ongoing industrial action on students, university communities and the broader national interest.
It further called on GAUA’s leadership to seize the opportunity for meaningful engagement and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to achieve an early resolution.
Government expressed optimism that the meeting would yield a positive outcome and pave the way for a swift return to normal academic and administrative activities across affected tertiary institutions.
