Head coach of the Black Queens, Kim Lars Björkegren, has expressed his delight at the team’s impressive performance against Mauritius in the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
The Queens recorded an emphatic 7-0 victory at the Essipong Stadium in the second leg of the tie.
Ghana thus advanced to the next qualifying round with a 10-0 aggregate victory, having won the first leg 3-0.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, Kim Lars praised the players’ outstanding performance, although he admitted that they could have scored more goals.
“We had the chance to score more goals. To play in front of the fans and score seven and play a beautiful game, I think we should be happy and enjoy.
“We are happy that we have qualified for the next round. Let us enjoy and see what happens tomorrow,” the coach said.
Ghana will now face Zambia in February 2027 as the qualifiers continue for a place at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
