National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency women organizer aspirant and camera technician at Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN), Abigail Obosu Nadine, has organised a general health screening and breast cancer screening exercise for women in the Okaikwei Central Constituency.
The exercise took place on Saturday, October 17, as part of activities marking Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Speaking during the event, Abigail Nadine said organizing health screenings, workshops, and skills training programmes for women were among her key priorities if elected as constituency women organizer.
“One of the things I’d want to be doing for the women is organizing health screenings, workshops, and skills training,” she said.
She explained that she decided to begin with the health and breast cancer screening exercise in recognition of the importance of early detection and the need to encourage women to prioritise their health.
According to her, health issues should be treated independently of political affiliations, urging all women in the constituency to take advantage of the initiative.
“Today being October, which is breast cancer month, I decided to invite all women in Okaikwei Central for screening. When it comes to health, there’s no politics, so everyone should make sure they come and check their health status,” she stated.
She also encouraged women to pay close attention to changes in their breasts and seek medical attention if they discover lumps or other unusual signs, stressing that early detection can save lives.
Abigail Nadine further used the occasion to campaign for the position of constituency women organizer, reminding delegates that she would appear as number three on the ballot paper.
She described a unifying spirit as an important quality for anyone seeking to lead the women’s wing, arguing that her ability to work with women across the various branches of the constituency reflects her commitment to unity and collaboration.
“We all know that in Okaikwei Central, the women’s wing needs a woman who is capable of leading the people to help the party gain victory, which will depend on a woman who is a unifier. And I am the one. I work perfectly with all the women in other branches,” she said.
Outlining her vision, Abigail said she aims to ensure that every woman feels valued, respected, and included, adding that she would not discriminate against any woman but would prioritise the welfare and interests of all.
