Kobby Kyei Media, in collaboration with the French Embassy in Ghana, has organised a one-day training programme for 50 emerging content creators and bloggers to promote responsible content creation and combat misinformation and disinformation.
The initiative, held at the French Ambassador’s Residence, was aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to create purposeful content, identify their niches and contribute positively to Ghana’s digital media space.
“I had a conversation with the French embassy of Ghana. We needed to train 50 emerging content creators or bloggers in Ghana so that they can blog or create content responsibly or with purpose. Find a niche for themselves,” he stated.
Speaking about the motivation behind the initiative, the blogger said it was driven by his passion for giving back to society, particularly to the blogging and content creation community.
He noted that the growing influence of new media in Ghana, coupled with the spread of misinformation and disinformation, makes it necessary to equip emerging content creators with the skills to produce credible and responsible content.
According to him, he has observed that some bloggers and content creators were increasingly focused on going viral, regardless of whether the information they shared was accurate or beneficial to the public.
“Sometimes most of these content creators or bloggers just have the belief that they need to go viral. Whether the information is good or bad,” he said.
He said the training was therefore designed to encourage participants to approach content creation with purpose and responsibility rather than prioritising online attention and engagement.
The programme brought together 50 emerging bloggers and content creators, providing them with an opportunity to learn how to build their platforms responsibly and make meaningful contributions to the digital media landscape.
Kobby Kyei described the training as successful, expressing satisfaction with the collaboration and the opportunity to support the next generation of content creators in Ghana.
