In a move aimed at bolstering the country’s national security infrastructure, President John Dramani Mahama has made several high-profile appointments to key security positions within his administration.

The new appointees bring a wealth of experience and expertise to their respective roles, ensuring the President’s commitment to the safety and security of the nation is upheld.

Prosper Douglas Bani appointed National Security Advisor

Former Chief of Staff under President Mahama’s previous administration, Prosper Douglas Bani, has been appointed as the new National Security Advisor. Bani, a seasoned political figure with deep experience in government and security affairs, also previously served as the Minister for the Interior.

His extensive knowledge of national security challenges, coupled with his leadership skills, is expected to contribute to the formulation and execution of comprehensive strategies to safeguard the country’s interests both domestically and internationally.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Abdul-Osman Razak has been named as the new National Security Coordinator.

COP Nathan Kofi Boakye (Rtd.) to oversee Presidential Operations

In a strategic move, the President has appointed COP Nathan Kofi Boakye (Rtd.), a former senior police officer, as the Director of Operations at the Presidency.

In this capacity, COP Boakye will be responsible for overseeing the operational effectiveness of all security matters related to the presidency.

This includes the protection of high-ranking government officials and ensuring the stability of national security operations at the highest level.

Boakye’s extensive background in law enforcement and security management will be instrumental in maintaining smooth operations within the presidential security apparatus.

Charles Kipo appointed Director-General of National Intelligence Bureau

Charles Kipo, a distinguished intelligence officer with years of experience in national security intelligence, has been appointed as the new Director General of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

Kipo’s primary role will involve enhancing the country’s intelligence capabilities and ensuring the timely gathering and analysis of vital information to safeguard national security interests.

His appointment underscores the administration’s commitment to strengthening intelligence operations and preemptively addressing potential security threats.
