Accra Hearts of Oak secured a 2-0 victory over bitter rivals Kumasi Asante Kotoko in Ghana’s version of the El Clásico at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
The match, played on Sunday, August 24, 2025, was the final fixture of matchday three, rounding off the 2025 GHALCA Top 4 competition.
The Phobians scored in each half to claim their first win over the Porcupine Warriors in recent times.
Striker Frank Duku opened the scoring in the 5th minute after a brilliant team move. Midfielder Abdul Karim initiated the buildup, combining with George Paaku, who set up Duku for a composed finish.
Hearts sealed the win in the 73rd minute when left-back Emmanuel Amankwah rose highest to power in a header from a corner.
The victory lifted Hearts of Oak to 7 points, the same as Bibiani Gold Stars, but the latter were crowned champions of the preseason tournament on a superior head-to-head rule.
