The National Sports Authority (NSA) has officially announced the lifting of the suspension on professional boxing in Ghana, effective Thursday, November 6, 2025.

The Authority described the development as “a major step toward restoring Ghana’s illustrious and proud boxing heritage,” and commended all stakeholders for their role in the reform process.
“The NSA commends the IMC, athletes, boxing stakeholders, and the entire sporting community for their patience, diligence and cooperation during this period of reform,” Its expressed in a statement.
As part of the roadmap for a safe and credible return, the NSA outlined several core pillars including publishing Medical and Safety Manuals, Codes, and Regulations; Functional Interim Medical Commission; Centralized Medical Database; Approved Insurance Framework; Sustainable Medical Support System; Certified Ringside and Medical Staff.”
“These form the key elements for a credible, safe, and internationally respected return to the sport,” the statement emphasized.
The NSA also highlighted its commitment to athlete welfare and institutional integrity, saying the roadmap also offers a clear, practical, and accountable pathway for the safe return of boxing in Ghana. It prioritizes athlete welfare, institutional integrity, and public confidence.
