Fire engulfed a kitchen with a store room, spread to a Renault Duster Salon car and a wooden kiosk, tragically burning to death aan in his 30s, who was identified as Kwabena Effutu.
In a statement signed by the Ghana National Fire Service, Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Central Region on Friday, January 9,2026, it reported that, the distressing incident occured on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 6:32am at Mempeasem near the Railway station Quarters in Assin Fosu.
According to the GNFS, the fierce fire was brought under control and finally extinguished at 6:40am averting a potential spread of fire to nearby structures,with timely arrival and efficient coordination.
“With the effort of the crew, the kitchen and it content and the Renault Duster Salon car were salvaged from total ruins of fire,” the statement noted.
The expired body was handed over to Police for onward transportation to St. Francis Xavier Morgue.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
