The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has entreated the technical team of the Black Stars to approach the team’s forthcoming international friendlies with a winning mentality rather than.

Black Stars will begin their series of pre-World Cup friendlies with a clash against Austria on March 27 at the Ernst Happel Stadium and later take on Germany Mrch 30.

They will also face Mexico and Wales in additional friendlies scheduled for May and June, respectively.

Speaking ahead of the double fixture, the minister emphasised that the matches, though preparatory, must be treated with seriousness and commitment rather than seeing them as experimental fixtures.

“I’ve told the coaches that these two friendlies, we are going with the mindset of winning, not just going to try players,” he stated in a recent interview.

The Black Stars opened their training camp on Sunday and held their first session on Monday with 21 players in attendance. Players like Alexander Djiku and Kojo Oppong Peprah are expected to join the squad later.
