The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has supervised the safe disposal of a full 40-foot container of loose, unpackaged, and unhygienic bale diapers imported from Spain.
The exercise took place at the Vigour Safe Disposal Site at Shai Hills, together with other stakeholders, to prevent the unsafe products from reaching the Ghanaian market.

The container was intercepted during a joint inspection at the Tema Port by officials of the FDA, the GRA-Customs Division, and National Security.
According to the FDA, the diapers were non-compliant, unpackaged, and unhygienic, making them unfit for use and a risk to public health.

The disposal was carried out at the cost of the importer, in addition to other statutory fines.
The FDA is urging all importers to secure the required approvals from the Authority before importation, warning that non-compliant products will be seized and destroyed.
