Over four hundred out of six hundred and sixty seven delegates who decides the fate of Parliamentary candidates of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Nhyiaeso constituency of the Ashanti region have endorsed Chief Executive Officer of Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Stephen Amoah.

Assembly Member for the Ridge Nhyiaeso Electoral Area, Mr Abraham Boadi a.k.a. Opooman who made this revelation on Angel in the Morning told show host Kwame Tanko, that his candidate has received an overwhelming endorsement from the delegates, which he said is a means of asking Stephen Amoah to contest.

‘We’re more than 400 hundred delegates who have written and appended their signatures to their names, throwing their support for Stephen Amoah. I have the list here KT(pointing to the host) and they’re all willing to come out without fear to support Stephen. We’ll meet the press on Monday to openly show these people to the media and Nhyiaeso at large, for them to openly declare their support’ He added.

Campaigning ahead of time

In September 2019, Mr Amoah was accused by some supporters of the party for campaigning ahead of the parliamentary primaries.

The posters of the MASLOC boss who is popularly known in the political space as Sticker who lost to the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), Hon .Kennedy Kwasi Kankam has initiated projects at Santasi new site road in the Nhyiaeso constituency, a project which was been financed by MASLOC .

Mr Stephen Amoah lost his bid to contest the Parliamentary primaries in Nhyiaeso in 2015.

Mr Amoah had 124 votes as against Kennedy Kankam’s 247. The incumbent MP for the constituency Dr Richard Anane was also defeated as he managed 110 votes. Before the elections, one of the contestants, Awa Abdul Aziz, bowed out of the race to support Dr. Anane to “bring Nana Addo to power.”

Kennedy Kankam who won, until recently, was the party’s Regional Organizer.
