My disinterest in football is because of ‘juju’ – Tic

Nana Kwaku Okyere Duah popularly known as Tic in the Ghana Music industry, has made shocking revelation on why he made the decision to quit the boots and pick up the microphone.

According to the rapper, he quit playing football because of “the involvement of black magic (juju) in the game of football”.

“At some point, what made me turn away from football was black magic. Sometimes they will tell us to hid lime in our boots. Some of the players use to consult idols,” he said Friday, on the ‘Sports Salad’ on Angel 102.9 FM.

He added “My brother and I refused to partake in any black magic the team was doing at the time. As a result we were always blamed when the team lost”.

Tic bemoaned that the act of clubs participating in group rituals involving “juju” didn’t align with his Christian upbringing.

The hip-life artiste, who was an integral part of a Dansoman-based football team, said he was blamed whenever his team lost because of his apathy towards the performance of the rituals.

“In SHS [Senior High School] I played for the school team in Datus and  Labone SHS. I played a lot of matches at Mamprobi,” he told host, Saddick Adams.

The “Philomina” hit maker therefore has urged stakeholders in the football to educate club administrators on new trends in the game to prevent Ghana losing out on a big player because of his disinterest in “juju”.

Even though Tic is no longer playing football, he is waiting on an opportunity to work for for his childhood club, Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
