The Ghana Meteorological Agency has cautioned Ghanaians to expect dry weather condition and poor visibility that will begin this weekend.

According to the agency, dust is raised from the source region around Chad, and this is expected to travel into the country.

The effect of this sweeping dust will deteriorate surface visibility. This means that motorists and all other road users should be cautious due to the difficulty in seeing from far distances.

Given that the dusty continental winds keep invading, the Northern part of the country which always is hard hit with the harmattan will be drier with relative humidity of less than 20% and below 50% over parts of the Southern sector.

Due to the dryness of the weather, the National Disaster and Management Organisation warn of possible fire outbreaks, and have therefore advance warning to the general public to the careful in handling fire relations activities and also being cautious on their use of the road due to poor visibility.

The agency also warns that the dust could cause health related issues, and further cautions that the public should take the necessary steps to ensure they are in good health.
