Member of Parliament for Akyem Oda Constituency in the Eastern Region, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, escaped death Monday evening after his vehicle was involved in a crash.
He was returning to Accra after attending an official event in the regional capital, Koforidua, when a commercial minibus veered off its lane and rammed into his Ford vehicle at Asuoyaa Bridge.
At least some eight passengers in the bus sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment at the Government Hospital in Koforidua.
Narrating how the incident occurred to Angelonline.com.gh, Mr Acquah said the driver of the commercial vehicle attempted to overtake a taxi cab and crashed into his.
His vehicle was inches away from falling over the bridge before it miraculously stopped following the collision.
“It took the mercies of God for me to be alive and talking to you,” he told editor of the portal, Jerry Tsatro Mordy.
The MP who was driving alone, returned to the national capital same day after he was attended to by medical personnel and discharged.
The lawmaker is expected to join his colleagues on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, as the legislature reconvenes for the week’s business.
