Top officials of the Portuguese, Finnish, and Irish football Associations have arrived in Ghana to partner with the Ghana Football Association in the final phase of the Social Inclusion Education & Training Exchange for Sports Professionals, Coaches, and Volunteers (SEITE SPORTS) programme.
The exercise is in partnership with the European Union and the Irish FA to co-fund the programme, with the Football Associations of Ireland, Portugal, Ghana, and Finland as participants.
The project whose goal is to develop competencies in inclusive football and knowledge share among the participating Associations will run until Friday, June 17, 2022, in Ghana.
In a communique, the FA explained that the programme will facilitate bridging the gap between theory and practice by improving competencies, knowledge sharing, and peer-to-peer learning opportunities.
“After taking over the mantle from previous hosts, Finland, the Ghana Football Association is hosting the final phase of the project to share its knowledge, expertise, and practical examples with the other Football Associations,”
“There shall be seminar series at the GFA headquarters for participants with the FA detailing its impact in social responsibility and partnership with other very important institutions, visits to Pelican Football Club and the Awutu Prison”
“This final exchange seminar will provide more opportunities for greater face-to-face networking among the four (4) Football Associations involved in the project, as well as engage wider local actors in Ghana in the discussion on sport and social inclusion (football and social responsibility)” the FA said.
General Secretary of the GFA, Lawyer Prosper Harrison Addo will lead Ghana’s contingent consisting of Dr. Bella Bello Bitugu, Director of the Sports Directorate, University of Ghana, and Mr. Hafiz Adams, Chief Director of the Youth and Sports Ministry.
Others include the GFA Club Licensing Manager, Julius Ben Emunah, Competitions Director Sena Akoto Ampaw, Austin Wontepaga Lututerah, and Ag. Head, PE & Sports, UG,
The rest are; Prince Nortey Dowuona-Otoo, Chokor FC, Idriss Abdul- Rahman, Senior Sports Organiser, UG Sports Directorate, Mohammed Ameenu Shardow of Dreams FC, Katharina Asare-Frimpong, UG Sports Directorate, and Vivian Mawufemor Dougblor, National Sports Authority.
