Aduana’s Emmanuel Akuoku retires from football at age 39

Emmanuel Akuoku retires from active football at age 39 after 15 years marriage with Aduana Stars

The general captain of the Ghana Premier League outfit, Aduana Stars, Akuoku Emmanuel has retired from professional football after 15 years with the club.

According to the player, the karma of age has caught him therefore it was due him to proceed to another chapter of life.

Hence, ‘Obubulebu’ as nicknamed noted his decision to call a quit active football after one and half decades of a professional football career.

In an emotional letter of notice sighted by Angelonlin.com.gh, the defender said it was unfortunate he cannot continue to pull in the jersey of the ‘Ogya Boys’ where he enjoyed his stay most as a player.

“I would like to formally tender my retirement from professional football activities after the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League football season and embark upon a new and exciting chapter in my life.

“I have truly enjoyed my stay here with the club for the past years and I am immensely proud, honored, and fortunate to have represented one of the biggest clubs in Ghana,” Emmanuel Akuoku said.

He again noted it was a dream come true to play for the Dormaa-based football club where he got the chance to fulfilled his dream but he sought to move on to “concentrate on my family.”

Regarded as one of the longest-serving players to play for the two-time premier league winners, Emmanuel Akuoku thanked the ‘Ogya’ family[managers, players, and fans] for every honor done to him.

Adding, working under many people at the club most especially the “greatest fans in Ghana football” had always made him feel “much appreciated.”

He thus opined that his doors are always open for an invitation from the club that requires his services.

Emmanuel Akuoku joined Aduana Stars in 2007 and became an integral member of the team helping them to win two Ghana Premier League titles, 2010 and 2017 seasons respectively.
