Police gun down two carjackers at Asamankese

The Accra Regional Police Command has gunned down two carjackers who snatched a Nissan Murano vehicle at gunpoint earlier this week in Accra and travelled to Asamankese.

The two, whose actual identities are yet to be established, died from gunshot wounds they sustained in a dawn shootout with the police on Thursday, 27 August 2020 at Asamankese, a press release signed by DSP Effia Tenge, Accra Regional Police PRO said on Thursday.

One other accomplice, Erasmus Somuah Sekyie was arrested in the operation and currently in police custody assisting in investigation.

The police have since retrieved the Nissan Murano vehicle, the release said.

Meanwhile, the two bodies have been deposited at Police Hospital mortuary awaiting pathological examination.

The regional command warned all armed criminals that the police will not relent on its efforts in combating violent crimes in the metropolis.
