The Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch newspaper, Ben Ephson junior, has tasked the two leading political parties in the December 7, 2020 polls to provide at least three million nose masks for voters on Election Day.

Speaking Tuesday, October 27, on ‘Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ’ morning show on Angel 102.9 FM, the pollster said both the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) need to show their commitment to the fight against the spread of the coronavirus disease by leading the campaign on voting day.

Ghana’s active case count of the COVID-19 has dropped to 804 after some 46,971 persons who contracted the disease out of 47,775, recovered fully, according to the Ghana Health Service. At least 316 persons could not survive after suffering the viral disease.

Despite the significant improvements in the number of recoveries, Mr. Ben Ephson, who himself is a survivor of the COVID-19, said the country should not let its guard down in the last few weeks left to the elections.

He urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to make it a must to enforce the COVID-19 protocols and the wearing of nose masks on the Election Day because “allowing the people to vote without wearing the nose masks, will be an unpardonable act and a great offense against the law.”
