The Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, in collaboration with Plan Ghana, has marked the 45th celebration of the African Union Day of the African Child.

The event was marked under the theme: “30 years after the adoption of the Charter: Accelerate the implementation of Agenda 2040 for an Africa fit for children”.

The African Union Day of the African Child is a day set aside in remembrance of the thousands of black school children who embarked on a peaceful protest against inferior education in Soweto in June 1976.

In an interview with Angel News Kwadwo Baffour, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Afisa Zachariah, asked African societies especially in Ghana to use AU the Day of the African Child as an opportunity to reflect on ways to create a better future for children.
