Abuakwa South MCE gets 100% confirmation

Assembly Members of the Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly have on Monday confirmed Akosua Asabea Annah who is the President’s nominee for the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) position.

The nominee had 100% votes of 35 assembly members present at the house out of supposed 38 to approve her nomination in an election conducted at the Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly hall at Akim Kyebi in the Eastern Region.

The votes then propelled her to attain the two-thirds of the total votes cast in accordance with the Article 243 (1) of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution and section 20(1) of the Local Government Act 2016, (Act 936).

The Election was conducted and supervised by the Abuakwa South Municipal Electoral Commission.

Madam Asabea Annah was then sworn into office by Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong following her full endorsement.

Confirming her as the new MCE of the area, she thanked President Akufo-Addo, the Local Government Ministry, Assembly members, constituency executives, and the Okyehene Traditional Council for the opportunity given her to serve the people of Abuakwa South.

She also promised to work tirelessly to boost the implementation of the government’s flagship programmes and policies for a more positive impact in the lives of the people to continue the work done by the immediate past MCE Kwadwo Sarfo.

Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong admonised the new MCE to discharge her duties with diligence by working according to laid-down procedures through mutual understanding with the Assembly members who are representatives of the people at the august house to bring development to the area.

Present at the function was the immediate past MCE for the area Kwadwo Sarfo, the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Mr. Samuel Atta-Kyea, amongst others.
