The Public Relation Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, Timothy Affum, has stated that the service lacks the required equipment in the performance of their duties.
According to him, equipment at their disposal in discharging their duties are ‘ageing’.
He was responding to a question in an interview on Angel FM’S Anopa Bofo Morning Show Monday, January 17, 2022, on why GNFS delays in responding to emergency issues.
He supported his claim saying that, the existing fire tenders in the system are all ageng, a situation he attributed to many instances where their vehicles breakdown midway while responding to emergency calls.
According to him, in 2021 they started a procurement procedure to get new equipment in an attempt to replace the ageing ones but there has been a setback in the delivery of the items to the GNFS.
Mr. Affum told host, Kofi Adoma Nwanwani the GNFS would in this year receive the expected materials to make their responses to fire cases swiftly..
