The #Fixthecountry convenor, Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor, has denied ever working under former President John Dramani Mahama as a Presidential staffer.
According to him, the claims levelled against him by the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe known ‘Abronye DC’ are “factually inaccurate.”
Abronye DC made the allegation after the Cambridge Ph.D student was arrested by personnel believed to be from the National Security on Friday, 11, 2022, after he landed in Ghana from abroad.
He was subsequently arraigned before court and remanded into prison custody for two weeks for threatening a coup d’etat if the e-levy is passed by Parliament.
The private legal practitioner in a statement dated February, 20, 2022, said, he has provided the police with personnels employed by Mr. Mahama following the claims Abronye DC made in his statement to the Ghana Police Service.
“I have today furnished the Police with a list of officers appointed by the former President, under the Office of the President Act and which was reported to Parliament by the office of the former President during all his time in office.
“As the Police will confirm, the list does not contain my name, and there is no record anywhere that presents me as a presidential appointee to who the term presidential staffer properly applies,” he explained.
The statement clarifies that he worked as a civil servant at the Foreign Affairs Ministry but only seconded to the presidency as a liaison officer for the ministry.
He worked there for two years before he resigned to work for the United Nations.
The #FixtheCountry convenor therefore dismissed claims that he received GH¢20,000 monthly, while working under president Mahama.
“I was at all times on my civil service pay, earning between GH¢800 to GH¢1000 net monthly.
