The Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu has declared that the Accra Psychiatric Hospital has not been sold as claimed by many Ghanaians.
According to the Minister, the facility will rather be redeveloped under the government’s Agenda 111 project into a modern 220-bed psychiatric hospital.
In an official Facebook post sighted by Angelonline.com.gh, Mr. Agyemang-Manu who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa Central debunked the story making waves about the alleged sale of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.
“It hasn’t been sold. It is to be redeveloped under Agenda 111 into a new modern 220 bed Psychiatric Hospital under an EPC Contract.
“Tenders have been received and are being evaluated currently. Afterwards, it will go for VFM, Cabinet and loan will go for Parliamentary approval” he wrote.
The Health Minister also highlighted on steps taken by authorities to relocate workers of the facility to pave way for the renovation to takes effect.
“Staff might be relocated to Pantang to make way for redevelopment, but the authorities will ensure that until and unless all steps towards getting the contractor on site are completed and contractor is ready to commence work, there will be no relocation.”
