Carlos Queiroz sent a heartfelt message to the Egyptian fans after parting ways with the national team.
In September of last year, Carlos Queiroz was appointed as Egypt’s national team manager after the dismissal of Hossam El-Badry.
During the past seven months, the Portuguese had led the Pharaohs to the semi-finals of the Arab Cup in Qatar as well as the final of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, which he lost to Senegal on penalties.
Just a few weeks later, Queiroz led Egypt to the final round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, but his side fell short against Senegal in another penalty shootout defeat.
As a result of failing to qualify for the World Cup, the EFA officially announced that they will be parting ways with the Portuguese manager.
Following his departure, Queiroz sent an emotional message to the fans as he’s leaving Egypt with what he called ‘wonderful memories’.
“To All, The Egyptian fans; Our supporters; My friendly and magical staff dream team; And to my wonderful players; Every new beginning that starts with one painful farewell, means that our hearts are full of gratitude, respect, and friendship. Those are my feelings right now,” Queiroz tweeted.
He added “There are no goodbyes in football, just a simple kind and warm ‘see you later on the Game’. That also means you will always be in my heart, even if only God knows how and when we will meet again.
“Fortunately, I carry with me the wonderful memories of our journey from Good to Greatness. Without your dedication, talent, and commitment it would not possible to achieve so much in such a short period. Thank you so much to all.
“To be the National Team Coach of such a great passionate football Nation was a privilege and an honor.
“To receive your trust and confidence for renewing this commitment to the next future, means a lot for me and it is a professional reward of recognition that will prevail in my heart forever. Thank you so much to EFA.
“To all football Egyptian community, I express my best wishes and belief that Egypt will be a successful football nation.
“To all Egyptian people and its proud and visionary Leadership, my best wishes for greatness and a successful peaceful future. In Football, friendship, and gratitude!”
