FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup: Ghana paired with USA, Japan and Netherlands

The Black Princesses of Ghana have been drawn in Group D in the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup scheduled to take place in Costa Rica in August.

The team was drawn in Group D alongside reigning champions Japan, the Netherlands, and the United State of America in this year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

The tournament, which was cancelled in 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic comes off from August 10th to August 28th, 2022.

The 16 participating teams were placed in four pots with Ghana placed in pot 3 together with Brazil, Korea Republic, and New Zealand.

The Black Princesses, who will be at their sixth consecutive finals will open their campaign against the three-time champions United States on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at the Alajuela Morera Sato.

Ghana booked its ticket to the 10th edition of the tournament after they managed to seal a 5-1 aggregate win over their Ethiopian counterpart in a two-legged affair.

The biennial international women’s youth football championship has been contested by the under-20 national teams of the member associations of FIFA, since its inception in 2002.
