The Black Stars of Ghana will play South American powerhouse, Brazil in a friendly match in September ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup to be held in Qatar later this year.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) who confirmed this in a communique said the match will be played on September 23, 2022, at a yet-to-be-decided venue.
According to the GFA, the decision comes after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) postponed matches of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers hence the need to keep the stars active ahead of the global showpiece in Qatar.
Ghana was initially scheduled to play Angola in a double-header in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
But following the rescheduling of those matches, the Black Stars of Ghana will now engage Brazil, the five-time FIFA World champions to boost confidence of its team going into the November-December tournament.
Meanwhile, they will also take on Switzerland in November some few days before the World Cup tournament proper starts.
This, according to the FA “will give Coach Otto Addo the platform to continue the assessment of his players in the build-up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 finals in Doha.”
