The General Superitendant of the Assemblies of God, Rev Stephen Wengam has advised young people to always pay heed to what their hearts tell them before choosing a life partner.
The man of God who was speaking on Talklife, a TV programme which focuses on addressing social issues said he has not regretted ‘listening to what his heart told him at the time he was choosing a life partner’.
According to the radio pastor, it was always his heart desire to always get it right in choosing a marriage partner.
“I always wanted to get it right especially when it come to marriage. I was actually paying attention to what my heart was telling me…not only feelings or the assets – back tyre heavy, front tyre correct, traffic indicator correct – what was really important was the engine which is the character…,” he said.
He further recounted how his room mates who were not happy with how long the two had courted without him proposing threatened to propose to Monica on his behalf if he was afraid.
“My room mates one time came to me and told me that they will propose to me if I fail to do so because they thought I was punishing her by failing to do the needful after two years…,” he added.
Lady Rev Mrs Monica Wengam, the husband added had a ‘powerful kitchen handwriting’ but that was not all he was interested in hence his desire to delay the proposal for another year or so.
“I wanted to get it right and have someone I can love for not just a brief period but for forty years or more…,” he added.
