Hohoe to host the year’s June 4th celebrations

Hohoe, one of Volta Regions’ popular towns has been selected by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to host the 2023 edition of the June 4th celebrations.

The event which marks the 44th anniversary of the revolution, is scheduled to take place in the Hohoe Constituency, an official communique from NDC Volta Regional caucus has confirmed.

According to the communique, activities to mark the 2023 celebration will begin with the with a health walk in the morning of Saturday, June 3, and subsequently a public lecture at the campus of the St. Francis College of Education (FRANCO).

On Sunday, the memorial event will be climaxed with a wreath laying activity at the E.P Park, Hohoe at 8:00am and will be observed under the theme “Saving Our Democracy: the Spirit of the June 4th.”

“We are by this release, calling on the general public to join the NDC and actively participate in this historic event in Hohoe,” A statement issued and signed by the Volta regional communication officer of the party, Kafui Agbleze urged.

The event expected to bring to Hohoe some very top officials of the NDC, its flagbearer for the 2024 general elections, former President John Dramani Mahama will honour the program as the Special Guest of Honour.

Notable dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include; National Chairman of the NDC – Johnson Aseidu Nketiah, General Secretary – Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, Volta Regional Chairman – Mawutor Agbavitor, Member of Parliament for Adaklu and Minority Chief Whip – Governs Kwame Agbodza and MP for Ho West and Regional Caucus Chairman – Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah.

Others are Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – MP for North Tongu, Dr. Zanetor Rawlings – MP for Klortey Korley, among others are expected to attend the occasion.

The June 4th celebration is an annual event prominent on the NDC’s calendar, celebrated to mark Ghana’s 1979 Revolution meant to awaken the conscience of the Nation and imbibe in the citizenry the principles of probity and accountability.
