Former Member of Parliament for Adentan Constituency in the Greater Region, Kojo Adu-Asare has warned that members of the minority caucus in Parliament would continue to stay out of proceedings in the House until further notice.

Speaking on Kokoase segment on Angel Morning Show, on Wednesday, the former Law Maker said he backs the decision of the Minority to boycott proceedings and support the MP for Assin North who is currently standing trial for holding dual citizenship.

“This boycott will continue for as long as the case is in court, we won’t stop…I support the position of the NDC MPs…we cannot continue to have our side weakened and help government…,” he said.

He further called on Ghanaians not to trivialise the decision of the NDC as he believes the NDC feels they are fighting against a President and Attorney General who have threatened not to rest on their oars until Gyakye Quayson is imprisoned.

He added that this resolve commenced right after the 2020 elections when the NPP on the night of swearing-in the MPs secured a court injunction and drove all the way from Assin North just to submit to Speaker of Parliament.

“Gyakye Quayson is being tried as part of the strategies of weakening the strength of the NDC side in Parliament and that is clear because even the President has said he would be imprisoned but we would not relax…,” he said.

Adu-Asare added that the NPP has by this decision showed that they don’t wish well for this country because “if they do, they would have told the Attorney General to step down the case.”

Gyakye Quayson was dragged to court for allegedly holding dual citizenship. The state has filed criminal charges against him.

Flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama, criticized the High Court’s decision to hear Quayson’s trial every day.
