President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has fulfilled his GH¢1 million pledge made to Ghana’s sole rep in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League campaign — Medeama SC.
The President who made the commitment in August 2023 to the Ghanaian champions prior to their Africa journey after winning the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League, delivered his promise on Thursday, December 14, 2023.
Delivering the promise on behalf the President, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif presented the sum to the Member of Parliament for Takwa Nsuem, George Mireku Duker who doubles as a board member of Medeama Sporting Club.
“I had the privilege of presenting a GH¢1 million from H.E. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to the MP for Takwa Nsuem, Hon. George Mireku Duker, on behalf of Medeama Sporting Club, as a fulfilment of his pledge to them for winning the 2022/23 league and also qualifying for the CAF Champions League,” the Minister said in a Facebook post.
He reminded the Yellow and Mauve of the need to raise the flag of Ghana high in the CAF Champions League competition as the entire nation rallies behind them.
“Together, we champion the spirit of sportsmanship and national pride. Best of luck to Medeama SC and I wish them well in their campaign in Africa,” says the Sports Minister.
Medeama currently occupies the third position in Group D of the ongoing Champions League after three games securing four points with a win, draw and defeat.
Their next trip will be Tanzania where they take on Young Africans.
