The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey has said that the main opposition political party remains unfazed by the selection of Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as running mate to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The Energy Minister has been touted as the lead candidate in the race for Dr Bawumia’s running mate with reports indicating that the Vice President has already presented him to several notable persons within the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The Majority in Parliament has reportedly endorsed the Manhyia South MP as one who will bring great fortunes to the ticket which is seeking to be the first pair in the 4th Republic to break the 8-year cycle of a political party.
Analysts have claimed that Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo’s inclusion in the ticket of the NPP would seriously affect the chances of the NDC in the Ashanti Region where he hails.
This view, the NDC scribe appearing on TV3’s Hot Issues which was monitored by Angelonline.com.gh said will have no effect on the chances of the NDC.
According to him, both Dr Bawumia and Napo lacks the needed integrity and credibility to convince Ghanaians to opt for them as leaders of Ghana.
“What is spectacular about Matthew Opoku Prempeh? He has been in charge of the Energy sector and has not even got the honour and capacity to accept that we have an energy crisis. Is that not a massive…absence of principles…?,” he quizzed.
“If you have an individual who does not have the courage to accept the truth joining a flagbearer who is know for what we call perpetual deception and lies? We are talking about a team not known for honuor…so I don’t understand why anybody will panic…,” he added.
To him, such dishonourable characters will have absolutely no advantage over the NDC in the 2024 general elections.
