The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Asuogyaman, Pius Enam Hadzide, has urged constituents to support his bid for office, promising to facilitate travel for local youth to the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking at a campaign event, Mr. Hadzide highlighted his connections within the sports sector as a potential avenue for international opportunities for young Ghanaians, enabling them to travel and send remittances back home.

He noted that he had previously facilitated a 16-hour-trips to Australia for some individuals, suggesting that arranging a shorter, seven-hour trip to the United States for the World Cup would be more straightforward if he wins the election.

Mr. Hadzide also pledged that, if the youth supported him in the election and travel opportunities arose, he would assist them in traveling to other destinations such as the United Kingdom, Germany, and France.

Mr. Hadzide, who previously served as Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, is no stranger to travel-related controversy. In 2017, he was implicated in the Australian Visa scandal, where several individuals allegedly posed as journalists to secure visas for the Commonwealth Games in Australia. Although he was initially suspended, an investigation later cleared him of any wrongdoing, and he was reinstated by President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Mr. Hadzide has called on the electorate to back him in the upcoming election, vowing to help them achieve their aspirations for international travel and economic opportunities.
