Aide to the presidential candidate of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen, has expressed concern over the New Patriotic Party (NPP) potentially going into opposition under the leadership of its General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua.

Nana Yaw Sarpong acknowledged that while Kodua is a promising and gentle politician whose achievements cannot be underestimated, it is troubling to see the party possibly losing its grip on power under his tenure as General Secretary.

Mr. Sarpong expressed the belief that the NPP is likely to lose its seat in the upcoming elections, largely due to the leadership of the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“It is quite unfortunate that during his era [Kodua Frimpong] as General Secretary, the NPP will go into opposition. He is a very promising young man, but I’m sorry,” Sarpong said while celebrating Kodua’s birthday on the Angel Morning Show on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

He attributed his prediction of the NPP’s defeat to Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, stating that the presidential candidate’s actions would be detrimental to the party’s chances in the December 7 elections.

“His candidate is dragging them into opposition in the December 2024 elections,” he stressed.

The Movement for Change communicator also suggested that with Alan Kyerematen winning the upcoming elections and becoming the next president, Mr. Kodua could take some consolation in that outcome.

“Alan Kyerematen will come to power, so he [Justin Kodua] can use that to compensate himself,” Nana Yaw Sarpong concluded.
