Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, is adamant about the Black Stars’ chances of redeeming themselves in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, following the team’s failure to seek a qualification slot for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Addressing the team during its training session on Wednesday, March 19, at the Accra Sports Stadium ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, the President said the team should put behind their disappointment to qualify for next year’s AFCON.

“Let’s put the AFCON debacle behind us and let’s look forward and know that we can redeem ourselves. I know that in the World Cup qualifiers, you are going to redeem yourselves.

“I  know you can do it; I mean you are all talented players. We are going to continue to support you not only for the World Cup but beyond, and I’m sure that by the grace of God, we will find ourselves in the US” President Mahama stated.

The high-level entourage included Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, Black Stars Management Committee Chairman, Dr. Randy Abbey, GFA President Kurt Okraku, legendary Stephen Appiah, and Asamoah Gyan, were part of the visitation.

Black Stars will host Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21 before playing Madagascar three days later amid a ticket to the next FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by USA, Canada, and Mexico.
