The Paramount Chief for Yilo Krobo traditional area, Oklepeme Nuer Annor Baah Sasraku II, has proposed that base mapping is the only way to expose, name, shame, and punish unauthorised surveyors denting the image of the association.
According to him, the association was also working assiduously to clamp down on the activities of quack surveyors as a means to mitigate the problem of land litigation in the country.
He said this at Labone on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at the Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana (LiSAG), 6th Annual General meeting and Seminar, under the theme “Leveraging base maps for urban transformation and economic growth, the licensed surveyor’s role.”

Speaking as Special Guest Honour, Oklepeme Nuer Annor Baah Sasraku II, said the association would help to stem the activities of quack surveyors and ensure integrity in the delivery of cadastral surveying services in the country.
He pointed out that the lack of enforcement of the laws and regulations governing the survey profession in the country, whichhe said was providing space for the activities of bad nuts amongst the field.
He urged the Lands Commission as the regulator to, therefore, take urgent steps to strictly enforce the laws and regulations that govern the survey profession.
He however, applauded efforts the government was taking to ensure operational reforms at the Lands Commission to reduce the length of time it took to go through land registration procedures.
President of the Licensed Surveyors Association of Ghana (LISAG), Samuel Larbi Darko observed the need for an effective, proper collaboration and consultation between traditional rulers and the professional surveyors.

He indicated such move will aligns the implementation of base mapping initiative to help curb the spread of quack Surveyors in the country.
He however called for the needed appreciation, understanding and realization that base mapping is the game changer for the development of our communities and the country.
