Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has mourned the passing of celebrated hilife musician, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.
Reacting to the news, Dr. Bawumia described Daddy Lumba as “a true music icon” whose demise, not only a blow to the music industry but the entire nation.
He noted the artist’s central role in shaping Ghana’s hilife genre and mentoring emerging talent.
“His brilliant compositions and works have not only entertained but also inspired and uplifted many of us,” the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer said in a post on his socials.
Dr. Bawumia stated. “His passing is indeed a huge blow, not only to the music fraternity but to the entire country.”
He further extended condolences on behalf of himself and his wife to the deceased wife, family, fans, and the whole country.
Daddy Lumba, widely regarded as one of Ghana’s greatest musical legends, with a spanning career of three decades died Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness.
