Former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, will be laid to rest today, Friday, August 1, 2025.
The late Mr. Coker, who passed away at the age of 68, was accorded a state burial and a memorial service organized by the government.
The funeral ceremony took place at the Forecourt of the State House, Osu–Accra.
High-profile personalities from the political space, particularly government officials as well as members of the sports community, traditional authorities, and his admirers were in attendance.
A private interment will follow the funeral service and tributes. Mourners are requested to wear black attire.
A thanksgiving service in memory of Mr. Coker will be held on Sunday, August 3, at the Calvary Methodist Church in Adabraka, Accra, beginning at 10 a.m.
The deceased was survived by his wife, one child, and three grandchildren.
Beyond politics, Ade-Coker also played a key role in Ghanaian football administration.
He served as Vice Chairman (later Vice President) of the Ghana Football Association, beginning in 1997.
He once occupied the Chairmanship role of Accra Great Olympics FC, where he contributed significantly to the club’s development and stability.
