The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has rolled out a nationwide enforcement of its directive mandating licensed gold buyers to issue official receipts for all transactions.
In a press statement issued on Monday, August 18, 2025, the GoldBod highlighted that issuing receipts is compulsory for licensed aggregators, self-financed aggregators and Tier 1 and Tier 2 buyers, aiming to boost transparency and regulatory oversight in Ghana’s gold industry.
The Board has established a taskforce and deployed field inspectors across the country to monitor compliance, with licensed buyers expected to produce their receipt booklets for verification and collaborate with inspectors.
The GoldBod cautioned small-scale miners and traders to insist on official receipts for all transactions, stressing that failure to do so could result in sanctions, including license suspension or revocation.
For assistance with securing receipt booklets, licensed buyers are encouraged to contact the GoldBod’s licensing and Regulatory Unit through the specified hotlines.
