The Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Akwatia by-election, Solomon Kwame Asumadu, says that the upcoming election will be peaceful during and after the exercise.
According to him, as a man who stands for peace, he would play his part to ensure that the exercise is not characterised by violence.
Speaking ahead of the Tuesday, September 2, 2025 election, Mr. Asumadu he will not associate himself with actions that affect the peaceful atmosphere the people continue to enjoy in the area.
“Anyone who knows my personality in Akwatia can attest that I’m a man of peace and for that regardless of the election outcome I’ll make sure that it doesn’t turn out to bring any problem to a relative or a friend,” he told Ohemaa Sakyiwaa on the Angel Morning Show.
The MP hopeful stressed the need for a peaceful by-election and added:
“So I’m giving your listeners an assurance.”
In a similar development, his competitor from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Bernard Bediako Baidoo, committed to a peaceful exercise.
“There has been a lot of commentaries on this particular election enabling you outsiders to panic that Akwatia will be this and that…. Akwatia will not turn into anything. Not everyone in Akwatia is into politics so if they cause mayhem in the area, where would they do? So we understand ourselves and have completed various campaigns for the election tomorrow,” he stated on the same subject.
According to him, the electoral process would be successful in maintaining the peaceful atmosphere of the area.
“We will go out to vote peacefully, count peacefully, declare the results peacefully and leave as one people because we seek for development at the end of the day.”
