The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has confirmed that calm has been restored at the Hamile Border Post following a disturbance involving members of the local community on the evening of Saturday, September 13, 2025.
GIS acknowledged the incident and indicated that the situation was swiftly brought under control with the support of relevant security agencies.
In a statement, the Service said it has directed a thorough investigation into the incident, assuring that appropriate measures will be taken following the outcome of the investigation.
“The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu, has directed the initiation of a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident,” the statement signed by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration M. Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs read.
The Service appealed for public cooperation and urged residents to remain calm as investigations proceed.
