Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, James Gyakye Quayson has held bilateral meeting with Ambassador-at-Large of Maldives, Dr. Mohamed Fahmy Hassan.
The meeting was to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Dr. Hassan acknowledged the friendly relations between Ghana and the Maldives and underscored the importance of sustained engagement to reinforce the bilateral partnership.
He noted that while trade between the two countries remains modest, there is potential for growth particularly in the agricultural sector.
He further emphasized the value of enhancing trade links as a means to broaden economic cooperation and foster deeper mutual understanding.
In his response, Mr. Quayson lauded Maldives’ renowned tourism sector.
He suggested that a partnership would be mutually advantageous, allowing Ghana to leverage its rich cultural and natural heritage with Maldives’ expertise.
He underscored the significant potential for investment in Ghana to transform the country’s natural resources into higher-value products, contributing to job creation and economic growth.
